Update from the first ICCC meeting
Hello fellow UWIC members,
Our union had our first consultation meeting with David Evans and other members of executive management on Tuesday (9/23) and we had some big wins! See below for the full report.
United Workers of Integral Care will now have a presence at New Employee Orientation. While we will not be joining the official NEO Teams meeting we will be able to schedule our own meeting during the lunch break which will be shared with all participants of NEO so that they will be invited to join us to learn more about the union.
We addressed issues of safety and staffing at the Children and Family Services side of Rundberg. CFS Rundberg has been without a dedicated security guard and has relied on borrowing time from the security guard stationed at the Adult Behavioral Health side. After discussing the safety issues this has raised, management has agreed to hire a dedicated CFS security guard. We were also informed that they are hiring an administrative staff member to cover the front desk as this has also been a gap in staffing causing problems for both staff and clients.
We opened a conversation about creating a reporting process for staff to report facilities issues that would include transparency from management in the form of timely status updates and access to any reports from any inspections.
We have also opened a conversation regarding updating job listings to include more comprehensive job descriptions to further address staffing concerns at our agency.
We look forward to these changes being put into effect and to future consultation meetings. Please reach out with any concerns you may have that you would like to see addressed in future meetings. If you would like to get more involved we would love to hear from you!
In solidarity,
United Workers of Integral Care – CWA Local 6154
